Getting a birth control prescription in Georgia is now easier than ever. You no longer need to schedule an appointment to visit a doctor's office weeks or months in advance. It's not necessary to sit in a waiting room for hours. You don't have to leave work, school, or other activities just to talk to a doctor. No more wasting time driving to the doctor's office and then to the pharmacy.

Black Tie Health™ is now offering telehealth services to help meet the increasing demand for simple, convenient, affordable medical care, including birth control pills.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to have a pelvic exam prior to getting birth control pills?

No. Some time ago, it was common practice by gynecologists to require patients to undergo a pelvic exam prior to writing prescriptions for birth control. However, that is no longer the case.

According to the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG), pelvic exams should not be required in order to get access to birth control. In fact, ACOG states that there are only 4 conditions where a pelvic exam may be required, including symptoms of a gynecological issue, when undergoing a pelvic procedure (such as surgery), as a part of prenatal care, and certain histories of specific gynecological conditions.

Can I get the same birth control I have been taking? What about something different?

Yes. Our fully-licensed physicians have the ability to write a prescription that meets your specific needs. If you've already been taking birth control pills for a while, it's usually easy to refill your current prescription. If you need a new prescription or have a specific medication in mind, we can help with that, too.

Do I need insurance for this appointment?

Nope. We do not submit claims to insurance companies. As a result, the $49 fee that we charge covers the online telehealth consultation only. The cost includes the physician's evaluation, including a review of your medical history and answering any questions you may have regarding birth control. After your visit, the physician will send your electronic prescription to the pharmacy of your choice.

What if I have insurance? Is this visit covered?

Some insurance companies may reimburse you for the cost of the online telehealth visit that we provide. This would require that you submit specific information directly to your insurance company. If you intend to seek reimbursement, please notify the doctor during your online visit.

Once your prescription arrives at the pharmacy, you may be able to use your insurance plan to cover the cost of the birth control medication. The amount you are responsible for will depend may factors, such as insurance-specific policies, co-payments, cost-shares, deductibles, and other considerations that depend on your insurance company.

What methods of payment do you accept?

Black Tie Health™ has partnered with Square to ensure the security of our online payment process. As a result, you can pay using Visa, Mastercard, Discover, American Express, Apple Pay,  Google Pay, Afterpay, and even Cash App!

Should I still make an appointment to see my OB-GYN?

Although a pelvic exam isn't necessary before initiating or prescribing contraception, we recommend that all female patients see their obstetrician–gynecologist at least once a year for well-woman care visits.

What kind of device is required for a telehealth appointment?

Our telehealth interface supports most devices commonly used today. You can connect to our telehealth platform using an iPhone, Android device, iPad, Mac, or PC. Our platform doesn't require you to download another app, special software, or any unnecessary hoops to jump through. As long as you have access to a computer or smart device with email or text messages, we are just one click away.
